Butler County, Ohio, deputies made a horrifying discovery earlier this week when they found approximately 30 dead dogs and puppies in various stages of decomposition stuffed into fridges and freezers at an Ohio animal rescue. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office reported that more than 90 dogs and puppies were removed from what can only be described as “the most horrible conditions they have ever seen.”

These dogs and puppies were being held at two different properties in Madison Township, in structures that were unfit for animal habitation. One of the structures was a garage with over 25 caged canines enduring an indoor temperature of 89 degrees.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, “numerous animals” were kept in cages together that were filled with urine, fecal matter, and devoid of food or water. Shockingly, one cage contained a mother and eight newborn puppies. The authorities also discovered 11 adult canines in the main house, some of which were caged together.

The deceased canines were found in five refrigerators and freezers, some of which were not even functioning, throughout the two properties. The conditions in the house were described as unlivable, with an overpowering odor that burned the eyes and made it difficult to breathe. The Deputy Dog Wardens had to leave the structure multiple times to catch their breath.

The owner of the dog rescue, operating under the name “Helping Hands for Furry Paws,” now faces numerous charges of neglect and cruelty to companion animals, both felony and misdemeanor. The individual responsible for this heinous act has been identified as Rhonda Murphy. CNN attempted to contact the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for further comment but was unsuccessful in reaching them. Furthermore, no attorney representing Murphy has been identified..
