A tragic hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in Clay County on Sunday. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, north of Liberty in rural Clay County. According to a news release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the victim has been identified as John Paul R. Scheidecker, as reported by Melissa Evans, the director of Clay County Emergency Management.

Shortly before 4 a.m., Clay County Sheriff deputies responded to reports of a possible hit-and-run fatality crash in the vicinity of Northeast 120th Street, between Missouri Route A highway and Fishing River Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Scheidecker’s lifeless body at the scene. Shockingly, the vehicle responsible for the accident did not stop, leaving investigators desperate for any information that could lead to its identification.
