In response to this tragic incident, the authorities of the Edo State Police Command mobilized their forces to investigate and apprehend those responsible. Through a diligent operation carried out by the South-Ibie Division and the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit, seven suspects affiliated with the Black Axe group were successfully captured.

During the course of their investigation, the police uncovered additional cases of violence perpetrated by these criminal elements. Emmanuel Odiase, a member of the Black Axe group, was reported to have been killed by members of the Eiye cult in Auchi. The assailants in these cases were said to have arrived at the scenes of the crimes in a suspicious unregistered Lexus 350 saloon car, painted in a distinctive golden colour.
