Chicagoland got soaked overnight after a summery Saturday. Will umbrellas (or jackets) be necessary on Sunday?

Severe weather was avoided in Chicagoland as a line of storms passed through, bringing up to 2 inches of rain. Temperatures remained warm on Sunday, although not as high as Saturday, with the possibility of some sunshine. Showers are expected to return later in the day and into Monday, with a slight risk of severe weather. The main concern will be heavy downpours. Mild temperatures will continue into the work week, with drier conditions and temperatures nearing 80 by mid-week. The forecast includes scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, with a chance of strong to severe storms on Wednesday.

Thankfully, Chicagoland avoided real severe weather with the line of storms that rolled through overnight Saturday into Sunday.

But there was plenty of rain, with some areas seeing up to 2 inches.

Temperatures have remained warm early Sunday morning and will stay that way throughout the day, although it won’t get quite as warm as Saturday.

The sun could even peek out at times, but more showers are expected to return later Sunday, through the overnight hours into Monday’s morning commute. There is a slight risk for severe weather, but the main threat in Chicagoland will be heavy downpours.
