New details have emerged about a murder-suicide in Fort Myers, Florida, where a mother of three, Takisha Best, was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Darrell Rowe. Witnesses reported that Rowe fired three rounds at Best before fleeing the scene. Best was taken to the hospital but later died from her injuries. New details have emerged regarding a tragic incident of murder-suicide that took the lives of a mother of three and her alleged assailant. The Gun Violence Archive has identified the victim as 35-year-old Takisha Best and the suspect as 43-year-old Darrell Rowe. In the early hours of July 29, Fort Myers Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 100 block of William Street. When they arrived, they discovered Takisha Best unresponsive in the enclosed lanai behind the house. A bullet projectile was found near her body. Witnesses at the scene revealed that they were all gathered on the back porch when Rowe, Takisha’s ex-boyfriend, asked for a cigarette lighter. An argument ensued between the two, during which Rowe fired three shots at Takisha Best before fleeing the scene. Authorities later found Rowe unresponsive with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Despite being rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital, Takisha Best succumbed to her injuries. A GoFundMe page established by Tracy Best, Takisha’s mother, described her as a unique and loving individual. Tracy Best mentioned that her daughter leaves behind twin daughters and a son. The fundraising campaign had exceeded its target of $10,000 by Friday morning. This tragic incident marks at least the fourth murder-suicide in Southwest Florida this year. Notably, Cape Coral experienced two murder-suicides within a week in March. The Gun Violence Archive reported that Kimberley Burdick, 28, was killed by John Stern, 33, before he took his own life. Additionally, two individuals lost their lives in a murder-suicide at a residence on Seventh Street on March 18, according to Cape Coral Police. Furthermore, last April in Collier County, a man and a woman died in an apparent murder-suicide at a shopping plaza. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect and victim were acquainted. Witnesses at the scene attempted to revive the woman, while the man fled. Deputies traced the suspect to a location in Golden Gate Estates, where they discovered he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
