The inmate, identified as Carlos Alejandro Chi-Chi, aged 36, was discovered hanging in his cell by a deputy on August 10th at approximately noon. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office, which oversees both the jail and coroner’s division, has requested an independent investigation by the San Rafael Police Department into the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death.
