A Manitoba resident has been identified as the victim of a 26-year-old unsolved murder case in Florida. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in Florida has finally been able to put a name to the male homicide victim, who had remained unidentified for several decades. Through the assistance of a private forensic genetic genealogy company, investigators have determined the victim’s identity as Robert Bruce McPhail, originally hailing from the Kenora/Winnipeg region.

The lifeless body of McPhail was discovered on September 10, 1997, floating in an intercoastal waterway situated in the northeastern part of Florida. It was during the recovery process that investigators made the gruesome revelation that McPhail had been subjected to binding, multiple gunshot wounds, and numerous stab wounds before being callously dumped into the water.

Regrettably, no known photographs of McPhail exist. However, a facial reconstruction was expertly crafted back in 1997 to provide a visual representation of his appearance. The authorities have disclosed that McPhail was 58 years old at the time of his demise and had relocated to Florida during the 1990s. Unfortunately, very little is known about the victim, other than his passion for boating. Consequently, the police are urging anyone with any knowledge or information pertaining to McPhail to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
