Visalia Man Arrested in San Luis Obispo for shooting Incident

On Thursday, Joshua Arnold, a 41-year-old man from Visalia, was apprehended by the San Luis Obispo Police Department after reports of a shooting in a parking lot on Froom Ranch Way. Witnesses reported that Arnold fired at a vehicle that was leaving the scene, resulting in a passenger being injured by a bullet. The injured individual transported themselves to a nearby hospital.

Prior to this incident, the Grover Beach Police Department had responded to another shooting at 4th Street and Grand Avenue, where the suspect, believed to be Arnold, fled before being caught. The suspect was seen driving a black Ford Mustang with a white stripe, and surveillance footage of the vehicle was released by the police. The description of the suspect and vehicle in the San Luis Obispo shooting matched that of the Grover Beach incident.

Following a tip from a vigilant resident, law enforcement agencies including the San Luis Obispo Police Department, San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, California State Parks, California Fish and Wildlife, and California Highway Patrol responded to the 1900 block of San Luis Ranch Road at around 4:20 p.m. The suspect vehicle was located, and after a brief search, Arnold surrendered. It should be noted that Arnold was not carrying a weapon at the time of his arrest.

However, authorities were informed that there might be two armed individuals inside a nearby residence. As a precautionary measure, the San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT team secured the area and conducted a search of the residence. Residents within a two-block radius were advised to stay indoors. Fortunately, the search revealed that the residence was unoccupied.
