The incident originated on July 1 when the Raleigh Police Department promptly responded to a call regarding shots fired into a building situated in the 5400 block of Picket Fence Lane. Although multiple townhomes suffered damage from the gunfire, no injuries were reported at the time. On July 3, the same location witnessed a tragic turn of events as the lifeless body of Dexter Rashad Ingram, aged 28, was discovered by the RPD. Significantly, Ingram’s body was found in close proximity to where the July 1 incident unfolded, leading the police to establish a connection between the two occurrences..
