The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Johns Island, South Carolina. Jeffrey McKinley, aged 51, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm in relation to a violent crime, as stated by jail records. On July 20, deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call reporting a single-vehicle accident involving injuries near the vicinity of 710 Hughes Rd. Andrew Knapp, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, confirmed that the vehicle had veered off the road and collided with a mailbox. The driver, later identified as Kenneth Black from Charleston, aged 57, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was promptly transported to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for medical treatment due to a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Black succumbed to his injuries on August 1, causing his demise. Following an investigation, law enforcement officials determined that McKinley was present in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, as documented in an affidavit. Surveillance footage from a nearby camera depicted McKinley exiting the vehicle before its collision. On Thursday, McKinley was detained and processed at the Al Cannon Detention Center..
