SBR Helping Hands, a nonprofit organization, has been founded in honor of Shanquella Robinson, who was brutally beaten and killed while on vacation in Mexico. The organization aims to carry out Shanquella’s dreams of helping and supporting others. The family is hosting an empowerment brunch with panelists and plans to focus on initiatives such as combating bullying. The organization seeks to turn their pain into purpose and celebrate Shanquella’s life through service. Jesse Pierre reported

Shanquella Robins’ sister has established a nonprofit organization called SBR Helping Hands as a tribute to her late sister. The organization aims to continue Shanquella’s legacy of love and helping others. Shanquella, a 25-year-old woman from Charlotte, tragically lost her life in October 2022 after being brutally beaten and killed while on vacation in Mexico. The incident gained national attention and sparked outrage, with Mexican authorities issuing an arrest warrant and extradition request for the American identified as the aggressor. However, the U.S. Department of Justice determined that there was insufficient evidence to pursue federal charges, and no one has been arrested for Shanquella’s death yet. Despite the challenges faced by Shanquella’s family in seeking justice, they have been supported by numerous individuals who rallied, marched, and stood in solidarity with them. In order to reciprocate the support they received, Shanquella’s sister founded SBR Helping Hands, which aims to turn their pain into purpose and celebrate Shanquella’s life through service. The organization’s initiatives include providing scholarships, supporting families facing tragedies, combating bullying, and serving as a resource for the community. SBR Helping Hands is launching with an empowerment brunch featuring panelists such as national civil rights activist Tamika Mallory, the family’s attorney Sue-Ann Robinson, and “Basketball Wives” star Jennifer Williams. The brunch aims to bring people of different races and backgrounds together to discuss empowerment and celebrate life. The women behind SBR Helping Hands believe that unity is powerful and that Shanquella’s name lives on through their supporters and organization. They continue to fight for justice and invite others to join their cause. The brunch will take place on August 27 at the Bazal Art Gallery, and tickets can be purchased online..
