A 32-year-old woman from Eunice died in a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning. The woman, Porsha Lashante Guillory, was found unresponsive in her overturned car and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Another person, Auriel Michel Le Olivier, was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash and suffered minor injuries. Both individuals were not wearing seat belts. The cause of the crash is currently being investigated. KATC News reported
An Eunice resident lost her life in a car accident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday. The Eunice Police reported that Porsha Lashante Guillory, 32 years old, was driving her vehicle when it overturned and landed in a ditch on E. Maple Avenue just before 2:00am. When officers arrived at the scene, Guillory was found unconscious on the driver’s side and couldn’t be extracted from the car. However, the Eunice Fire Department successfully rescued her using specialized equipment. She was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
Further investigation revealed that there was another passenger in the vehicle with Guillory at the time of the crash. The passenger, identified as Auriel Michel Le Olivier, 32 years old from Jeanerette, had already been taken to a nearby hospital by unknown individuals before the police arrived. Olivier was seated in the front passenger seat, and although she suffered minor injuries, she was treated and discharged from the hospital.
The cause of the accident is currently being investigated, and the results of toxicology tests are pending. It is worth noting that neither Guillory nor Olivier were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash..
