A 34-year-old man in Oklahoma has been arrested for allegedly killing his estranged wife and kidnapping their 5-year-old son. Chase Ainsworth has been charged with first-degree murder and child stealing. The incident occurred at the victim’s home, where her 7-year-old daughter was also present. Ainsworth was apprehended after an Amber Alert was issued, and he was found barricaded in a house with the child. Ainsworth is currently held without bond in the Cleveland County Jail. A 34-year-old man from Oklahoma has been arrested after allegedly murdering his estranged wife and then abducting their 5-year-old son. The suspect, Chase Ainsworth, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with first-degree murder and child stealing. The victim, 31-year-old Samantha Ainsworth, was found dead in her home by police officers who responded to a domestic disturbance call. The couple also had a 7-year-old daughter who was present during the incident.
The Oklahoma City Police Department released a statement revealing that officers arrived at the scene of the crime and discovered the deceased victim. The authorities later identified Chase Ainsworth as the primary suspect and learned that he had fled the scene with their young son, Simon Ainsworth. An Amber Alert was immediately issued for Simon, and a search was initiated for Ainsworth’s black 2012 Kia Soul. It was reported that Ainsworth may be armed with a knife and was known to use drugs.
About an hour after the Amber Alert was issued, law enforcement officers located Ainsworth and Simon in a house on Chisholm Road. The child was found safe, and Ainsworth was taken into custody without any injuries. Captain Michelle Henderson of the OKCPD described it as the best possible outcome to a tragic situation.
Ainsworth is currently being held without bond at the Cleveland County Jail. The cause of Samantha Ainsworth’s death has not been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing.
