In an unfortunate incident that took place in Gonzales on August 4th, a 15-year-old girl named Gracie Limas tragically lost her life due to a gunshot inflicted by her 16-year-old boyfriend, Jaquin Stephens. This distressing information was confirmed by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO). The APSO detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Stephens, who was subsequently apprehended at a residence in Livingston Parish and taken into custody.

Stephens, a resident of Gonzales and a student at East Ascension High School, now faces charges of second-degree murder, as well as illegal use and possession of a handgun as a juvenile, according to the APSO deputies.

Reflecting on the heartbreaking incident, Sheriff Bobby Webre expressed his condolences, stating, “We received a call at the sheriff’s office about the tragic death of this young and beautiful 15-year-old girl who was shot and unfortunately passed away.” The sheriff revealed that the two individuals were in a relationship and that Stephens’ jealousy led him to commit the act of violence.

Law enforcement officials have determined that the dispute between the couple originated on social media and was driven by feelings of jealousy. Sheriff Webre commented, “Based on our findings, it appears that jealousy was the main factor in this case. We know they were in a relationship, and an initial argument escalated, prompting Stephens to arrive at the residence armed.”

Authorities have issued a search for Stephens in connection with the charges of second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and unlawful possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

On the night of the incident, deputies responded to a call reporting a fatality at a residence on Bourque Road in Gonzales. Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the young woman in her bedroom, with a gunshot wound.
