On August 6, 2023, detectives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in connection with the shooting death of Jennifer Beltran-Galassi, a 20-year-old female.

On August 5, 2023, at approximately 09:28 am, patrol deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting in the 5300 block of Woods Drive in Sun Valley.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Jennifer Beltran-Galassi inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency medical personnel transported Beltran-Galassi to a local hospital, where she was tragically pronounced deceased.

During their on-scene investigation, patrol deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect, Esteban Garcia, at a nearby residence. Subsequently, after further investigation by detectives, Garcia was identified as the main suspect and apprehended.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has determined that there are no additional suspects involved in this case. Garcia is currently being held in the Washoe County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including Open Murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

On July 27, 2023, Garcia was previously convicted of domestic battery (1st) and child abuse, neglect, or endangerment by the Sparks Justice Court. Garcia received probation and a no-contact order was issued between him and Beltran-Galassi. Investigators have established that Garcia and Beltran-Galassi had a domestic relationship and shared a minor child.
