A fatal traffic accident occurred in Whitley County on Saturday afternoon. The collision involved a Jeep Patriot and a Nissan Altima at the intersection of US25W and Falls Creek Road. The crash resulted in the death of Florence J. Neal and injuries to other passengers. The investigation is ongoing. The News Journal reported

A tragic incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon, resulting in the loss of a woman’s life in Corbin. The collision involved two vehicles and took place at the intersection of US25W and Falls Creek Road in Whitley County. According to an initial investigation conducted by the Kentucky State Police, Charles L. Robinson, a 68-year-old resident of Corbin, was driving a white 2012 Jeep Patriot. Robinson’s vehicle pulled out onto US25W from Falls Creek Road, inadvertently crossing paths with a southbound 2013 Nissan Altima driven by Sandy M. Harp, a 52-year-old from Williamsburg. The impact of the crash caused severe injuries to Florence J. Neal, a 59-year-old passenger in Harp’s car. Tragically, Neal was pronounced dead by the Whitley County Coroner’s office. Sandy Harp, though sustaining non-life threatening injuries, was airlifted to Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington for medical treatment. Troy Harp, another passenger in Sandy Harp’s vehicle and a resident of Corbin, was transported to Baptist Health Corbin by Whitley County EMS. Irene Robinson, who was a passenger in Charles Robinson’s Jeep, also sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Baptist Health Corbin by Whitley County EMS. The accident resulted in the closure of the road until approximately 6 p.m. that evening. Falls Creek Road is situated near White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. The investigation into the incident is being carried out by KSP Trooper Joseph Mallory. Various authorities, including the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Whitley County EMS, Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department, Air Evac Lifeteam, the Whitley County Coroner’s Office, and additional KSP personnel, provided assistance at the scene..
