Singer Rita Ora revealed that she proposed to her husband Taika Waititi as the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary. The couple had an impromptu ceremony with eight people in attendance, and Rita wore three different looks by designer Tom Ford. They exchanged vows at their home in Los Angeles. Taika confirmed that Rita proposed to him, and they had close friends and family present, with parents joining via Zoom. Rita Ora has disclosed that she proposed to her husband Taika Waititi on their first anniversary while sharing new details about their intimate wedding. The couple hastily organized the ceremony in just two weeks, with only eight people in attendance, after Rita popped the question during a trip to Palm Springs. Contrary to reports suggesting they got married in London, the couple exchanged vows at their home in Los Angeles. Vogue featured a gallery of images from the wedding, where Rita revealed that she wore three different outfits designed by Tom Ford. Taika expressed his immediate acceptance of Rita’s proposal and mentioned that the ceremony had a small gathering of close friends and family, with parents joining via Zoom.
Rita’s sister Elena served as a bridesmaid, and Taika’s best friend, actor Jermaine Clement, flew from New Zealand to attend the ceremony. Rita expressed her admiration for British designer Tom Ford, stating that getting married in one of his dresses was a dream come true. She shared that she took a risk by visiting the Tom Ford shop in search of the perfect dress, and fortunately, they had one in her size, requiring no alterations. For the ceremony, Rita wore a beautiful white lace one-shouldered gown with chunky platform heels. Later, she changed into a frilled white dress with a plunging front for the reception and an eye-catching flared co-ord and lace bralet. Rita also revealed that she wore her mother’s pearls with her wedding dress, while Taika donned a suit by Brunello Cucinelli. Elena accompanied Rita down the aisle, and Taika was joined by his two daughters.
After becoming husband and wife, the newlyweds celebrated with a dinner at their friend Guy Oseary’s house, where they were surprised by an Elvis impersonator providing music. Rita had previously confirmed their marriage in January, describing the wedding as “perfect” and a “special day.” She explained that she chose to keep it private but hinted at it through her music video. Rita and Taika’s relationship evolved from being close friends for four years to getting married. She shared that their friendship was the best way to truly know each other.
