One person was killed in a shooting in New Bedford on Thursday night, according to authorities. The shooting was reported on County Street and the victim, identified as 27-year-old Amareuito Fernandes, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting incident that occurred in New Bedford on Thursday night. The incident took place on County Street, and law enforcement received reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered evidence of a shooting but no victim present.
Shortly after, a private vehicle arrived at Saint Luke’s Hospital carrying the victim, identified as 27-year-old Amareuito Fernandes from New Bedford. Unfortunately, Fernandes was pronounced dead at the hospital. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, limited information can be provided at this time, according to the statement from Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III’s office.
The New Bedford Police Department, State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, and the homicide unit prosecutors are all involved in the investigation. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
