This distressing incident was confirmed by a spokesperson from the Raytown Police Department on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Christian Rodriguez, a 26-year-old resident of Raytown. Upon receiving a report of a man being shot multiple times in the vicinity of the 9900 block of 60th Street on Monday evening, law enforcement promptly arrived at the scene. They found Rodriguez lying on the lawn adjacent to one of the buildings at the Somerset Village apartments, gravely injured from the gunshot wounds.
Without hesitation, Rodriguez was swiftly transported to a hospital via an ambulance. Tragically, despite receiving immediate medical attention, his condition remained critical and he succumbed to his injuries overnight. Captain Dyon Harper, representing the Raytown Police Department, confirmed the ongoing investigation into his death. Regrettably, no information regarding any potential suspects has been released thus far.
According to data compiled by The Star, this incident marks the third homicide in Raytown thus far in 2023. However, it is worth noting that in comparison to the same period last year, there were four homicides recorded in the area.
