Update, August 2, 2023 – Sheriff Cochran with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that both victims from Tuesday’s plane crash are now in stable condition. Despite significant injuries, they are expected to recover.

SANDERSVILLE, Ga. (WJBF) – Emergency responders and deputies in Washington County are currently at the scene of a plane crash on the 2000 Block of Kaolin Road.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Sandersville Police Department are urging motorists to exercise caution while emergency crews work at the crash site.
As per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a twin-engine Velocity Twin aircraft crashed into a nearby pond close to Kaolin Field Airport in Sandersville at approximately 9:20 a.m.

The two individuals on board the plane, identified as 67-year-old Daniel Mesnard, the pilot, and 69-year-old Timothy Fiser, the passenger, sustained critical injuries.
One of the victims has been airlifted to Piedmont Macon Medical Center for treatment, while the other has been transported to Augusta University Medical Center.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct a thorough investigation into the crash, with the NTSB leading the inquiry.
