An investigation is underway in South Carolina after a police officer was killed on train tracks while responding to a call for assistance. The officer, identified as Matthew Hare, was trying to save a suicidal person when he was struck by a train. Multiple law enforcement agencies held a processional to honor the fallen officer. An investigation is currently being conducted in South Carolina after a police officer tragically lost his life on train tracks while responding to a call for help. The Easley Police Department received a request for assistance on the railroad tracks along East Main Street early Wednesday morning. In response, the police contacted North Norfolk Southern to halt all train activity in the vicinity. Unfortunately, during this operation, a 22-year-old officer named Matthew Hare from the Easley PD was fatally struck by a train along the tracks. The Pickens County Coroner’s Office stated that Officer Hare was attempting to remove an individual in distress from the tracks when the accident occurred. Regrettably, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A procession was held by various law enforcement agencies to honor the fallen officer. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been assigned to further investigate the incident.
