Upon arrival, law enforcement found the man unconscious. Unfortunately, the victim passed away while being transported to a local medical facility, where he was later officially pronounced dead. The deceased individual has been identified as Robert Northrop, a 71-year-old resident of Ocean View.

Hawaii Police Chief Ben Moszkowicz stated, “There is presently no evidence to suggest that the victim incited this tragic attack. This incident is an incomprehensible calamity that could have been prevented.”

Although the dogs had been previously reported as strays, they were eventually linked to owners who were absent at the time of the incident. The Hawaii County Animal Control and Protection Agency took custody of all four animals, as well as a litter of 10 puppies.

No details regarding the breeds or conditions of the dogs were disclosed.
