Arrest Made in Boston shooting After Video Evidence Surfaces

BOSTON – A Virginia man has been arrested and charged with murder and firearm charges following a shooting incident in Boston on Sunday night. Riccardy Romain, 51, of Chesterfield, Virginia was ordered to be held without bail during his arraignment in Boston Municipal Court.

The shooting took place at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Washington Street, where officers responded to a call for a person shot. The victim, identified as Jackson Beausejour, 33, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Despite being rushed to Boston Medical Center, Beausejour was pronounced dead.

Video evidence captured on a witness’s cellphone played a crucial role in identifying the suspect. The video showed a man with a distinctive appearance, wearing a backward baseball cap, gray beard, light gray T-shirt, dark gray pants, and black sneakers. He was seen holding a dark-colored firearm and pointing it at the victim, who fell to the ground. The video also captured a black Cadillac pickup truck with a U-Haul trailer fleeing the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, police located the suspect’s vehicle and ordered Romain, along with a juvenile passenger, to exit the vehicle. Both individuals complied and were placed into custody without incident. A search of the pickup truck yielded two loaded pistols.

Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden commended the witness for their bravery in providing the crucial video evidence that led to Romain’s arrest. Hayden emphasized the importance of community members stepping forward to aid law enforcement in reducing gun violence.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. This incident is part of a series of violent incidents that occurred in Boston over the weekend.
