FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Police Department has identified the 66-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in a fiery crash and car shooting incident. Mary Lou Flores was the driver of a sedan involved in a collision with a small SUV on North Brawley Avenue in Fresno.

Officers were initially responding to a call regarding a shooting victim at a Walmart parking lot on Shaw Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a 24-year-old man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was promptly transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.
The sedan driven by Flores contained five adult occupants, including herself. Sadly, Flores sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The other individuals in the sedan were also taken to a local hospital, where they received treatment for moderate injuries.
The SUV involved in the collision fled the scene before authorities arrived and is currently at large. Investigations have revealed that both Flores’ vehicle and the SUV were traveling southbound on Brawley Avenue when shots were fired from the SUV, striking the 24-year-old male victim. The SUV then pursued Flores’ car at high speed, resulting in the collision.
Authorities believe this incident is isolated and stems from a prior disturbance involving all parties. Detectives are actively seeking video footage from nearby businesses and encourage anyone with information to contact the Fresno Police Department.
