A Columbia man is facing four felony charges after the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman in Boone County. The incident occurred in the 4800 block of Clearview Road, and deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault at the location.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless body of a pregnant woman with a gunshot wound. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Sevance Brewer, was apprehended in Columbia following his identification as a suspect in the case.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has charged Brewer with two counts of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and illegal gun possession. It is believed that the incident may be related to a domestic violence situation, according to Captain Brian Leer.
During the investigation, Brewer claimed that he accidentally shot the victim while removing his gun during an argument. Two young children, aged 3 and 4, were present at the residence during the incident.
