A 72-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a Nevada City man on a rural Nevada County road. The victim was found dead by a passing driver, and deputies determined it was a homicide. 72-Year-Old Man Arrested for Homicide in Nevada County

A 72-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a Nevada City man on a rural Nevada County road. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a passing driver around 11:24 p.m. on Saturday, stating that a man appeared to be dead on the side of the road at Tyler Foote Crossing Road and Black Sands Mine Road, north of Nevada City. Deputies arrived at the scene and found the 61-year-old man outside his vehicle, which showed signs of exterior damage.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released, but detectives have determined that his death was a homicide. Anthony Eric Stewart of North San Juan has been identified as a suspect and was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of murder. He has been booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility and is currently in custody without bail.

The Sheriff’s Office has stated that the cause of the victim’s death is pending an autopsy, and the investigation is still active and ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office at 530-265-7880.
