Colorado Springs Woman Sentenced to Over 20 Years in Prison for Hit-and-Run Incident in Parker

A Colorado Springs woman has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison after hitting a pedestrian in Parker and fleeing the scene. The incident occurred on June 16, 2022, at around 2 a.m. Officers from the Parker Police Department responded to a car crash at the intersection of Parker Road and Cottonwood Drive. They found 25-year-old Lacy Lewis lying in the middle of the road. Lewis and her boyfriend had been walking home in the crosswalk when 46-year-old Jessica Stahl struck her. Fortunately, Lewis’ boyfriend was unharmed.

According to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Stahl initially stopped and asked Lewis’ boyfriend if she had hit her, but she did not call 911 or offer any assistance. Stahl returned to her car and remained there for nearly six minutes before speeding away when approached by Parker Police officers. After a high-speed chase, she was finally apprehended and taken for a drug test due to signs of impairment.

Deputy District Attorney Sherri Giger revealed that Stahl’s veins were extensively damaged from heroin use, making it impossible for medical staff to draw blood. However, a urine sample was obtained, which revealed the presence of heroin, methamphetamine, Vicodin, Fentanyl, Suboxone, and Diphenhydramine.

Following a four-day trial, Stahl was convicted on several charges, including vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, child abuse, and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury and death. Deputy District Attorney Corrie Caler emphasized that Stahl had endangered countless lives as she had her young child in the car at the time of the crash.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of responsible driving and the severe consequences that can result from reckless behavior..
