30-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Clay County

A tragic incident occurred early Sunday morning in rural Clay County, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old man. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that John Paul R. Scheidecker was the victim of a hit-and-run crash, according to a news release by Melissa Evans, Director of Clay County Emergency Management.

The incident took place on Northeast 120th Street, between Missouri Route A highway and Fishing River Road, north of Liberty. Clay County Sheriff deputies received a report of a possible hit-and-run fatality crash around 4 a.m. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered Scheidecker’s lifeless body. Shockingly, the vehicle involved in the accident did not stop, leaving investigators desperate for any leads.
