A 20-year-old man from Milwaukee, Triston Brown, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and strangulation & suffocation for the fatal shooting of Naquon Henry near Washington Park on Tuesday, July 25.

According to the criminal complaint, police received a ShotSpotter notification about possible gunshots in the area of Washington Park early that Tuesday. When officers arrived, they discovered Henry, who had been shot near the playground.

Witnesses at the scene provided a description of the shooter, and soon after, an officer spotted a person matching the description walking nearby. When the officer approached, the individual fled, and the officer observed a firearm in their possession.

Police set up a containment perimeter and pursued the suspect, eventually locating a black bag containing a phone, a box of 9mm bullets, and items linking them to Triston Brown.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Brown had a prior connection to Naquon Henry through a girl who had been with Henry earlier. The girl reported that Brown had threatened her, saying that if he couldn’t have her, no one could. Brown then forced her to meet him at the District 3 police station, where he assaulted her, took her phone, and coerced her to go to Washington Park.

Using the girl’s phone, Brown lured Henry to the park and shot him multiple times. In a subsequent police interview, Brown admitted to the altercation with the girl and shooting Henry, claiming he blacked out and couldn’t recall the exact number of shots fired.

Brown appeared in Milwaukee County court on July 30, where a cash bond of $250,000 was set.
