A tragic incident occurred early Sunday morning in Clay County, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old man. The victim, identified as John Paul R. Scheidecker, was involved in a hit-and-run crash near Liberty, in rural Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a possible hit-and-run fatality crash around 4 a.m. The incident took place on Northeast 120th Street, between Missouri Route A highway and Fishing River Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered Scheidecker’s lifeless body. Shockingly, the vehicle responsible for the crash fled the scene, leaving investigators searching for leads.
