According to the Chesterfield Township Police, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the apartment complex located on 23 Mile Road.

Upon arrival, officers found a 27-year-old man from Chesterfield Township lying on the ground outside his apartment building with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving measures, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man from Eastpointe was apprehended nearby as a suspect in the case.

Authorities have determined that the shooting was the result of an argument and physical altercation that took place at the apartment building. Detectives are currently gathering evidence, and pending completion of the investigation, criminal charges will be filed. The case will then be handed over to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for review early next week.
