A 35-year-old man named Ahmad Syagul Nasip died after his car crashed into a retaining wall of a bridge in Penampang near Kota Kinabalu. The incident happened at around 5am near Kampung Dambai Proper off Jalan Papar Lama. The victim lost control of the car, resulting in the fatal crash. The body has been sent for a post-mortem at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I. Man Fatally Injured in Car accident in Penampang

KOTA KINABALU: Tragedy struck on Saturday (July 29) when a man lost his life in a car accident after crashing into a retaining wall on a bridge in Penampang, near here.

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the victim as Ahmad Syagul Nasip, 35.

The incident occurred at approximately 5am near Kampung Dambai Proper, off Jalan Papar Lama.

Acting Penampang police chief, Deputy Supt Sammy Newton, revealed that the man was traveling from Donggongon, the Penampang district capital, at the time of the accident.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the collision with the retaining wall.

\”As a consequence of the impact, the local man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene,\” stated DSP Sammy Newton.

The body has been transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I for a post-mortem examination,\” he added.

DSP Sammy urged anyone with information or who witnessed the accident to come forward and assist the police investigation, which is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
