“Arrest Made in Shooting Incident: Tyren Authement Apprehended in Raceland”

A Houma man has been arrested in connection to a shooting incident that occurred in Raceland, according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre. Tyren Authement, 21, was arrested in St. Mary Parish on Tuesday.

The shooting incident took place in the early hours of July 15, 2023, on LA Highway 182 in Raceland. A man sustained a graze wound to the face, but no other injuries were reported. Authement was identified as the alleged shooter through investigation, leading to a warrant for his arrest. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted for assistance in locating Authement.

On July 18, Lafourche and Terrebonne investigators were conducting surveillance and spotted Authement heading towards St. Mary Parish. They contacted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, which conducted a traffic stop and identified Authement as the driver. Deputies recovered firearms, drugs, and money from the vehicle after obtaining a search warrant. Authement was arrested and booked in St. Mary Parish on several charges, including illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Authement is currently awaiting transfer to Lafourche Parish where he will face additional charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bail for these charges has been set at $1.1 million.
