Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded at a nightclub in Birmingham’s Southside, resulting in the loss of two lives in a double shooting. The Birmingham Police Department received a distress call at 6:30 a.m. on May 24, alerting them to a potential shootout at The Quest nightclub located in the 400 block of 24th Street South. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered two men had sustained gunshot wounds. Prompt actions were taken by both club patrons and officers to provide aid to the victims.

Tragically, Birmingham Fire and Rescue confirmed the death of one individual at the scene, while the other victim was swiftly transported to UAB Hospital with critical injuries. The deceased individual was identified as 32-year-old Terrance Terrell Brown Jr., a resident of Birmingham, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Subsequently, the Birmingham Police Department issued an update on Sunday, May 26, revealing the passing of the second victim, identified as 32-year-old Shane Gady, also from Birmingham.

Investigations by the authorities suggest that both men engaged in a physical altercation before resorting to gunfire, leading to their demise. Furthermore, two firearms were recovered from the premises of the nightclub, marking the third shooting incident at The Quest in less than three years. Past incidents include a shooting involving a Birmingham police officer and a homicide on Labor Day in 2022, as well as an altercation between an officer and an armed patron.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald emphasized the importance of holding businesses accountable for recurring acts of violence within their premises. He stressed that while the objective is not to harm the livelihood of business owners, it is crucial to shed light on such incidents. Fitzgerald called for a collaborative approach involving the city, government, and the community to address the recurring violence at The Quest nightclub.

In light of these events, the Birmingham Police Department urges anyone present at the nightclub during the incident to come forward with information by contacting them at 205-254-1764 or reaching out to CrimeStoppers at 205-254-7777.
