In a bizarre turn of events, a man from Janesville, Wisconsin, found himself in trouble with the law not once, but twice in the same evening. Jeffery Janecek, aged 53, was pulled over and arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) on two separate occasions, with the incidents occurring approximately five hours apart.

First Arrest

The series of events began when a concerned witness reported Janecek for erratic driving near Milton Avenue and Blackbridge Road around 5:15 p.m. on May 24. Janesville Police officers swiftly responded to the call and intercepted Janecek in the 1200 block of North Ringold Street. Following a failed standardized field sobriety test, Janecek, a resident of Janesville, was taken into custody.

“[Janecek] was charged with operating while intoxicated 1st offense, which is a traffic forfeiture. A sober, responsible party came to the Janesville Police Department and took custody of Janecek around 6:00 p.m. This is normal procedure for an OWI 1st arrest.” – Janesville Police Department

Second Arrest

However, the night was far from over for Janecek. Just four and a half hours later, another Janesville officer spotted a vehicle swerving and driving significantly below the speed limit on Milton Avenue near Mt. Zion Avenue. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the driver was none other than Janecek, who was still under the influence of alcohol and had allegedly just left a local drinking establishment.

After failing yet another round of field sobriety tests, Janecek was arrested for a second time and is currently being held at the Rock County Jail due to what authorities described as “his continued dangerous behavior.”

Charges

According to the official statement released by the Janesville Police Department, Janecek now faces two counts of Operating While Intoxicated – 1st Offense. Further details regarding the incidents have not been disclosed at this time.
