A resident of Rockdale, Texas, has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting at law enforcement officers from inside an RV park in the early hours of the morning.
Incident Details
The incident took place at the Shady Grove RV Park on 987 W. US Highway 79, with the Rockdale Police Department responding to a call of “shots fired” at around 2:50 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival at the scene, officers came under fire from a suspect located inside an RV within the trailer park.
For the safety of bystanders and officers, law enforcement personnel took defensive positions behind their patrol vehicles and halted traffic on Highway 79 as the suspect continued to discharge his rifle towards them.
Multi-Agency Response
Several law enforcement agencies collaborated to bring the situation under control. In addition to the Rockdale Police Department and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department were also present at the scene.
Assistance was also provided by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, and the Austin Police Department SWAT teams. Armored vehicles from Williamson and Milam County Sheriff’s personnel were deployed to the suspect’s location, leading to his eventual surrender to the authorities.
Suspect Identification and Charges
The individual responsible for the incident has been identified as 44-year-old Quincy Arnett. He is facing two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, which is classified as a first-degree felony. At present, no bail amount has been set for Arnett, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
