Accident – Death – Obituary News :

LOS ALTOS – The Los Altos Police Department revealed on Tuesday that the combined use of alcohol and various drugs led to the deaths of a 74-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman whose bodies were discovered earlier this year at a residence in Los Altos.

There was no evidence of foul play or intentional harm in the case, as confirmed by the final update from the police department.

“Our sincere condolences and sympathy go out to the families of Steven Hooper and Chris Cryer,” stated the Los Altos Police Department. “We kindly request the Los Altos community to respect the families’ privacy during this difficult time of mourning and grieving.”

Police officers found the bodies at around 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 16 during a welfare check at a property in the 200 block of West Edith Avenue.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, in conjunction with the police department, conducted an investigation into the case. It was determined that the cause of death for both Hooper and Cryer was the combined consumption of alcohol and various drugs.

Following the investigation, the police department encouraged individuals struggling with substance abuse to reach out to Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services at 800-704-0900 or visit their website at bhsd.santaclaracounty.gov for treatment services for adults.
