Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 15-year-old girl is currently facing charges in connection with a series of robberies that occurred on a CTA Red Line train on May 10. The young girl, whose identity remains undisclosed due to her age, was apprehended on Sunday after being recognized as one of the suspects involved in the alleged robberies and assaults on Red Line passengers.
According to the Chicago police, the girl was responsible for the violent robbery of a 29-year-old male passenger on the train around 10:40 p.m. in the vicinity of West 79th Street. Following this incident, just after midnight, she proceeded to attack a 22-year-old woman near West 95th Street. Later, at approximately 2:20 a.m., she targeted and robbed a 21-year-old woman near West Cermak Road.
Authorities were in pursuit of identifying a total of six suspects believed to be involved in the string of criminal activities on the CTA Red Line. The incidents prompted a heightened sense of vigilance among passengers, with concerns for their safety mounting.
One of the victims, a female casino employee who chose to remain anonymous for security reasons, recounted her harrowing experience onboard the southbound train departing from Cermak-Chinatown station. Engaging in what initially appeared to be a friendly conversation, four females escalated the situation by demanding the victim’s sweater. When her refusal was met with physical aggression, the situation quickly turned violent as the assailants proceeded to assault her and abscond with her black Sony headphones.
The victim, left reeling from the unexpected attack, bravely fought back but was ultimately overpowered. She made a split-second decision to disembark at the 47th Street station, leaving her assailants behind. Subsequently, she was taken to St. Bernard Hospital for medical treatment, as authorities launched an investigation into the incident.
Expressing disbelief at the turn of events, the victim shared, “I just couldn’t believe it. I’ve ridden the Red Line for years. They seem like little kids.” The shocking nature of the crimes left a lasting impact on both the victims and the community at large, underscoring the importance of safety and vigilance while using public transportation.
In light of her involvement in the series of robberies and assaults, the 15-year-old girl now faces three charges each of robbery and aggravated battery.
