A CCTV footage has emerged showing the 17-year-old driver of a Porsche speeding moments before colliding with a motorcycle in Pune, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals. The young driver, just four months shy of his 18th birthday, was found to be intoxicated at the time of the accident near the Kalyani Nagar junction on Sunday.

Following the incident, the 17-year-old driver was apprehended, and a case was promptly registered against him in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), a group of friends had attended a gathering at a local restaurant and were on their way home on motorbikes. Tragically, near the Kalyani Nagar junction, a speeding luxury car driven by the teenager collided with one of the two-wheelers, causing the riders to fall off and lose their lives.

After striking the motorcycle, the young driver crashed the car into the roadside railings. Disturbing footage circulating on social media captured the moment when bystanders intervened, physically confronting the driver as he attempted to exit the vehicle.

The victims, both tech professionals hailing from Madhya Pradesh and residing in Pune, tragically lost their lives in the collision. The deceased were identified as Anis Awadiya (24) and Ashwini Costa (24).

Despite the severity of the incident, the teenage driver was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board. The board stipulated that the 17-year-old must collaborate with the traffic police in Yerawada for a period of 15 days, compose an essay reflecting on the accident, seek medical assistance to address his alcohol consumption, and undergo psychiatric counselling.

Additional CCTV footage has surfaced, depicting the 17-year-old driver drinking with his companions in the hours leading up to the fatal collision.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar emphasized the gravity of the offense, urging the court to consider trying the accused as an adult due to the “heinous” nature of the crime.
