SHAWNEE COUNTY — A man who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident last week has tragically passed away, Topeka Police announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on May 7, when a motorcycle, driven by Christopher L. Evans, a 38-year-old resident of Topeka, collided with a car at the intersection of 1st Street and SW Topeka Boulevard in Topeka. Evans sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Following the collision, an occupant of the car, identified as 31-year-old Rachel J. Anguiano, attempted to flee the scene but was later apprehended by authorities. Anguiano was subsequently arrested and booked on a felony warrant.
The Topeka Police Department has stated that the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident are still under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
