The suspect, Eric Earl Mercer Moore, was the boyfriend of Cosandra Best, Pridgen’s mother. Despite living in Goldsboro at the time of Pridgen’s disappearance, Moore was questioned multiple times by authorities but consistently denied any involvement in the case.
