MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – The community of Moncks Corner is in mourning following the tragic death of 85-year-old Patricia Baker in a house fire on Monday night.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office was informed by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) on Wednesday about the unfortunate passing of Ms. Baker. The cause and manner of her death are currently under investigation pending an autopsy.
The fire incident took place at a mobile home off Cooper Store Road, where emergency crews from the Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department and other agencies responded just before 11:00 p.m. Despite efforts to contain the blaze, one person was found and rescued from the burning home. The individual was rushed to a nearby hospital, although their condition remains unknown at this time.
Authorities including the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, Moncks Corner Fire Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office are working together to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire and Ms. Baker’s tragic death.
