SRINAGAR- A 41-year-old man, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, tragically lost his life due to an electric shock while cutting grass on his land in the Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday. The incident, which has left the community in shock, highlights the dangers posed by negligence in maintaining electrical infrastructure.

According to officials, the fatal accident occurred when the man accidentally came into contact with a live wire, resulting in a severe electric shock. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to a nearby health centre, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, the son of Mohammad Sultan Dar of Chewdara Beerwah, was a well-known figure in the local community, and his untimely demise has left his family and friends devastated.

Following the incident, local residents staged a protest outside the hospital premises, expressing their concerns over the lack of proper maintenance of transmission lines by the Power Development Department (PDD). The low-lying transmission lines were cited as a major safety hazard, posing a threat to the lives of individuals in the area.

The authorities have taken cognizance of the incident, with the police initiating an investigation into the circumstances that led to the tragic death of Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar. It is hoped that the findings of the investigation will shed light on any negligence or lapses in safety protocols that may have contributed to the unfortunate incident.
