Authorities have identified the woman who tragically fell from Ohio Stadium during the spring commencement ceremony at Ohio State University as Larissa Brady, a 53-year-old resident of Woodstock, Georgia, located north of Marietta. The incident occurred on Sunday and resulted in Brady’s untimely death, as confirmed by the Columbus Fire Department.

Larissa Brady was attending the graduation ceremony to support her daughter, who was receiving her bachelor’s degree. Witnesses reported that Brady had a brief conversation with her daughter before the ceremony began. She was accompanied by her husband and 12-year-old son, but at some point during the event, she expressed a desire to move to a higher seating position within the stadium.

Subsequently, Brady’s family lost sight of her as she made her way towards the upper section of the stadium. Eyewitnesses observed her climbing a concrete wall in section C30, close to the bell tower. Unfortunately, this led to the tragic fall that claimed her life.

Investigation into the Tragic Incident

The coroner’s office revealed that Larissa Brady had a history of mental health struggles and had previously attempted suicide on multiple occasions, including earlier this year. Her husband disclosed that she had been inconsistent in taking her prescribed medications, which may have contributed to the events leading up to the fatal fall.

Authorities from Ohio State University have refrained from providing detailed information about the incident, stating that foul play is not suspected, nor is it believed to have been an accidental fall. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office is treating the case as an “apparent suicide,” based on preliminary reports.

In response to the tragic event, the university has offered counseling services to all graduates and staff who were present at the commencement ceremony. Despite the somber atmosphere, the ceremony proceeded as planned, with university officials and speakers choosing not to address the incident during the event.

Chris Pan, a social entrepreneur and OSU alumnus, was among the graduation speakers who refrained from mentioning the tragic incident. As students exited the stadium after the ceremony, they passed by the area where Larissa Brady fell, marked by yellow crime scene tape.

University spokesperson Ben Johnson expressed condolences on behalf of Ohio State University, acknowledging the loss of Larissa Brady and extending sympathy to her family and friends during this difficult time.
