Accident – Death – Obituary News : CEBU CITY, Philippines – Authorities have made a breakthrough in the case of the man found dead and stuffed inside a sack on a cliffside in Santicon, Badian, southern Cebu. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Joseph Oralde, a resident of Barangay Bunga in Toledo City. Police Captain Jerwin Mark Battung, chief of Badian Police Station, confirmed that the body was positively identified by the victim’s relatives, despite being in an advanced state of decomposition.
Battung stated that further investigation is needed to determine the cause of Oralde’s death, and whether he was stabbed or shot. Additionally, the Badian Police are collaborating with authorities in Toledo City to ascertain if Oralde had been reported missing prior to the discovery of his body.
The grim discovery was made by a passing 17-year-old boy who was gathering firewood near the cliffside at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The teenager noticed a foul odor emanating from a sack, prompting him to alert local authorities. Santicon Barangay Captain Jim Amorado reported the incident to the Badian Police Station, initiating a thorough investigation into the Badian killing.
Police Major Windell Abellana, public information officer of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), emphasized that all possible angles are being considered in the investigation. He urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in resolving the case promptly.
Abellana reassured the community that the Badian police are diligently gathering statements from potential witnesses to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Oralde’s death. CPPO director Police Colonel Percival R. Zorrilla has instructed the investigative team to prioritize evidence-based solutions for the case.
