COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Authorities are currently investigating a tragic fatal incident that took place on the afternoon of yesterday in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

The driver of a Ford vehicle involved in the accident has been identified as Dorothy Skinner, a 74-year-old resident of Beltsville, Maryland. Sadly, Skinner was rushed to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where she was later pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Ford, identified as 15-year-old Loren Jones from Hyattsville, Maryland, was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical services personnel from Prince George’s County. Additionally, three other passengers were also taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for their injuries.

Following reports of a single-vehicle crash, troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack swiftly responded to the incident that occurred around 12:30 p.m. on the outer loop of Interstate 495 at exit 27 (Interstate 95). Initial findings suggest that the Ford, driven by Skinner, was travelling westbound on I-495 when, for reasons currently unknown, it veered off the road and collided with the wooded area.

As a result of the crash, the westbound lanes on I-495 were closed for over two hours to facilitate the thorough investigation conducted by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. The exact cause of the fatal accident is still being actively investigated by the authorities.
