Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a daring turn of events, a man in Memphis, Tennessee, managed to track down his stolen truck and assist police in apprehending the alleged car thief. The incident occurred at a Raleigh shopping center on Sunday, leaving the victim shocked but determined to recover his vehicle.

According to the victim, who chose to remain anonymous, he had been inside the Burlington store on Stage Road for about an hour when he emerged to find his white Chevy Avalanche missing. Without hesitation, he sprang into action, enlisting the help of a friend to pursue the thief.

Man’s truck was stolen from the parking lot of this Burlington in the 4900 block of Stage Road.

Together, the victim and his friend trailed the stolen truck, simultaneously alerting the authorities and providing them with real-time updates on the thief’s whereabouts. “We tried to keep our distance. I don’t think they knew we were following them,” the victim recounted.

During the pursuit, the victim noticed a grey Jeep also tailing the stolen pickup, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the unfolding drama. The chase eventually led to a dramatic conclusion at S Bellevue Boulevard and Peabody Avenue in Midtown, where the thief abandoned the stolen truck after it stalled.

It was speculated that the thief believed the truck had a kill switch installed, hence the sudden halt in its operation. When law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, the victim wasted no time in pointing out the suspect, later identified as Jamaal Jones-Cage, 32, who was seen fleeing on foot.

Upon searching the stolen vehicle, authorities discovered a red jacket, a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and work gloves left behind by the suspect. Additionally, a generator and various construction tools were found in the back seat of the Chevy Avalanche, none of which belonged to the rightful owner.

The victim reported that Jones-Cage had tampered with the steering wheel column to initiate the truck’s ignition, further implicating him in the theft. As a result, Jones-Cage was charged with theft of property valued at up to $60,000 and has been remanded into custody on a $25,000 bond. His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
