Accident – Death – Obituary News : KOKOMO, Ind. — A 23-year-old resident of Indianapolis has been taken into custody on multiple charges, including attempted murder, following a reported robbery at a convenience store in Kokomo in the early hours of Monday morning.
The Kokomo Police Department released a statement detailing the arrest of Savaughn Agnew on Monday, with the charges against him including attempted murder, robbery, attempted kidnapping, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
The incident unfolded around 12:02 a.m. on Monday when authorities responded to an armed robbery at a Kokomo Qwik Stop location. Dispatch informed officers that a man, later identified as Agnew, had allegedly shot at a woman and stolen her vehicle.
Subsequently, deputies from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen vehicle later that morning. A traffic stop was conducted on U.S. 931 near Carter, leading to Agnew’s arrest without any resistance. Officers were able to recover a firearm that Agnew had reportedly discarded from the vehicle during the pursuit.
Fortunately, the woman targeted in the shooting did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident. Agnew was then transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center, where he remains in custody as the case is still under investigation by the Kokomo Police Department.
