A 75-year-old woman, identified as P Rathna, sustained a fracture in her leg following a distressing incident at the Bhavani bus stand in Erode. The incident occurred on Sunday when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus allegedly ran over the woman’s legs as she fell while alighting from the vehicle.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when Rathna, a resident of Santhai Medu in Chithode, attempted to disembark from the bus after being informed by the conductor that the bus would not pass through her village. Despite her efforts to exit the bus, the driver reportedly moved the vehicle, causing Rathna to lose her balance and fall, resulting in the rear wheel running over her legs.
Following the incident, Rathna was promptly rushed to Bhavani Government Hospital for medical attention. It was determined that she had sustained fractures in her leg as a result of the mishap. Subsequently, she was transferred to Perundurai government medical college hospital for further treatment later that day.
In response to the incident, a police officer stated, “Action will be taken against the TNSTC driver once her relatives file a formal complaint.” Similarly, officials from TNSTC Erode assured that they would cooperate with the police investigation and take appropriate action against the driver involved in the incident.
