Accident – Death – Obituary News : Residents of Gwagwarwa Community in Nassarawa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State are demanding justice following the alleged killing of 23-year-old Yusuf Shuaibu by a military officer. The tragic incident took place at the Nigerian Air Force Hospital in Kano, where Shuaibu worked as a cleaner. The military officer involved has been identified as Oga Aminu.
Shuaibu Bala, the father of the deceased, recounted the harrowing events leading to his son’s untimely death. According to Bala, after completing his night shift, Yusuf was asked by Oga Aminu to carry out a task. When Yusuf requested money for food after completing the task, he was met with a violent attack that left visible bite marks on his body.
Seeking justice for his son, Bala appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the National Human Rights Commission, and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar to ensure that the family receives the justice they deserve.
In response to the incident, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, revealed that Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar, has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter. Gabkwet mentioned that the deceased had previously been involved in an altercation with an airman, although it appeared to have been resolved. The circumstances surrounding Yusuf’s death, however, remain unclear.
Gabkwet emphasized the NAF’s commitment to uncovering the truth behind Shuaibu’s tragic demise and extended condolences to his grieving family. The investigation is ongoing to determine the events leading to the fatal injuries sustained by Yusuf Shuaibu.
